OA Experiences in the making: Lyft blicken!/Look up! at Millesgården
Within the Open Atelier project, Millesgården is developing an innovative collection of personal memories connected to the work of Carl Milles. This action, promoted within the program for the celebration of the 150th anniversary of Carl Milles’s birth in 2025, aims at exploring and exhibiting new and multivocal narrative layers related to the artist’s heritage, that will be assembled through the collaboration of a wide and diversified audience.
One of the actions promoted to achieve this task is the campaign "Lyft blicken! / Look up!", that was officially launched on 1 June 2024 through a display on the billboards distributed in Stockholm’s public spaces, and later on wall panels integrated in the public transport system. The posters aim at soliciting the local community to turn their gaze towards the outstanding legacy of the artist and its museum – that is situated on a hill overlooking the city, where many of Milles’ sculptors are displayed on high pedestals, hence standing out towards the sky.
The campaign aims at soliciting a collection of different stories that may have been generated by the visit to the artist’s home as well as by the casual or recurrent vision of his sculptures, that are scattered in the public spaces of many Swedish cities and abroad.
