Introduction by vice-director Daniele Sepe, AMAT, Italy
I am very happy to introduce this video, a video that is the result of the workshop which took place in Venice in September 2024 within the Open Atelier project, led by artist Mara Cerri, illustrator and guest teacher in Open Atelier.
Two interconnected parts compose the film: the first one is the process, the second is the product (5 short videos based on the themes from the workshop).
The video shows the story of how a group of students from Politecnico di Milano together with the directors of four House Museums around Europe have been experimenting the reconfiguration of images representative of those Museums: by using inks or brushes or sponges, digitalising and re-printing, adding and deleting parts from the original material, and finally generating a short video per each of the museums (Art Museums of Skagen, Denmark, Einar Jónsson Museum, Iceland, Museum and Galleries of Ljubljana, Slovenia, Millesgården, Sweden), plus a fifth theme, Venice.
Painting, Sculpture and Architecture have been approached and processed through Illustration; have been modified through Technology; have been re-signified through Dramaturgy and finally offered to a new audience by Filming.
An interdisciplinary and intergenerational work in which creativity has been experienced, exploring new formats.
I do hope you will enjoy.
